astrobotic-lander-rover-200

AstroboticTM rovers will carry commercial, government and scientific payloads to the lunar surface.  The initial mission will have 103 kilograms (220 lbs) of mass available, split between the lander and the rover, as well as power and communications support.  The baseline price is $1.5 million per kilogram with a $250,000 integration fee per payload regardless of mass.
Scientific investigators will be able to get their instruments to the surface as ride-along passengers on full missions mounted and executed by Astrobotic Technology.  This contrasts with the current requirement for most scientists to create entire missions in order to get the data they seek. For engineers planning the upcoming human outposts, AstroboticTM services will deliver components and materials to the lunar surface for testing in the actual lunar environment – giving them great confidence that the technology or materials will function correctly when incorporated into future missions. Over time, AstroboticTM rovers will carry out varied operations on the Moon on behalf of customers.  Examples include preparing sites for later human outposts by sealing the surface to prevent dust contamination, or digging trenches into which power and communications cables can be laid to link outpost elements together.
